Master Bath [Part Tres]

Before and after

We LOVE how it turned out, even if it took more time and money than we had originally planned.  As you can tell, Coop also enjoys taking the occasional shower.  His toys migrate often.  We still need to decide about permanent hardware for our towels, but other than that, it's done!  Now we can enjoy it!

Master Bath [Part Dos]

Roughly 14 hours after June was born....

10 foot long vanity going in

It's up!
April 12 (when we got home from the hospital)

new baseboards 4/22

towers and counter top! (new light, too) 5/4

plumbing fixtures in! 5/5

5/5

5/5

Mirror installed 5/15

framed 5/30
So at this point, all we needed was a shower door.  We had several companies give up quotes, and we took our time deciding.  But we finally did, and we thought we were set for install being 5/31.  But there was a miscommunication, and it was not ordered.  Then this:

Wrong shower door (we want handles) 6/14
Then, we finally got the correct doors 6/21.  But the hardware didn't come in! Ugh

FINALLY! 6/22

The next post will be before and afters :)

Built in Bookcase Redo

And with this latest project, we are calling the living room/play room DONE!

Move in Day

Painting

Bookshelves everywhere

White washed brick

All loaded up

Finished!

Of course, the pictures make it look easy... and most of it was.  But. Those. Doors.  They are warped and unlevel and holes didn't line up... and we ended up adding a small piece of wood to the top so we would have something for the doors to rest on.  So it took us a week just to hang 6 doors.  But we did it.  It's done.  Let's just hope the paint cures without us having to touch up too much (30ish days to fully cure.)

Another One Bites the Dust

We finally painted the kitchen.  There is so much we would like to do in there, but for now, we are calling it a day with a coat of paint.  It's a great mix of blue green that flows well between the blue of the living room and entry and the green of the dining room.  It's so clean and fresh!

Sunroom Redo!

Another one bites the dust!  Another room down, which is a good thing because I am SO over painting.  (We really are almost done.  We have our bedroom and bathroom + kitchen and half bath left to do.)

While yellow isn't bad for a sunroom, it just wasn't us.  And it had a poor paint job.

Coop's 1st birthday
I don't have any pictures of how we had to set up before, but after we bought new couches, we were able to move our green one out into the sunroom.  It was nice to be able to sit out there comfortably, but green couch + yellow sunroom = yuck.  We painted the room Himalayan Mist, which is a shade lighter than the living room, playroom, and entry.  It took 3 coats to cover this neon yellow.  So please don't paint anything in your house neon yellow.  Thanks.  We also painted the trim and changed out the outlets.  Anyway, here is the after!

Sometimes, we even have two chairs in here. ha

The aluminum blinds aren't our favorite, but with 6 windows, changing that would be expensive.  So we'll keep them.
We do want to add vertical blinds to the door.  Not because they are attractive, but because we need something to block the sun!

The Great Room and Entry

It's the post we've all been waiting for! Mainly just me because that means I am done painting (for now at least!)

We hired people to take the beams down, scrape the ceilings- then smooth and paint them, add recessed lighting and a fan, add crown upstairs in the landing, and paint the entryway.  We painted the walls in the living room/ play room, and I painted ALL the trim.  Crown. Baseboards. Stairs. Spindles. So glad that it's done.  And we got a new coffee table, couch, and loveseat.  We also changed out the outlets and switches to white, then changed the back plates to white also.

It feels more like us and feels brighter and airier.  And a fresh coat of paint always cleans things up.  Without further ado, the pictures:

Before
After- walls are Aqua Pura.  The recessed light in here were already installed.  We took the frosted glass off and put in higher wattage bulbs.  You can actually see when the lights are on now!

Before

After- new rug from Dirt Cheap and gallery wall using what we had in ATL and NC

Before- it's hard to tell, but the popcorn was stained

After- pre ceiling fan and painted walls

Annnd After :)

After- we plan on getting a new fan for this room sometime soon

So that's what we've spent the last few weeks doing!  There are still a few things we are going to work on and change.  A new ceiling fan in the playroom, painting the shelves in the playroom, and a fireplace makeover!  Hopefully we will get a fan soon, and the fireplace is up next on the to do list.  But we will be taking a break for a while!

We are so glad we decided to add recessed lights.  It is amazing how well you can see with lights!  And a fan.. oh man!  I love a good ceiling fan.  We are so glad it's all done, and we can enjoy the room now.  It feels good to be home. :)
