Montana Part VI

We had much better weather this week, and we stayed busy!

 

Monday - It was still kind of rainy, so we hung around the house. Thankfully, it cleared up after J finished up work. So we headed to Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park for a hike.

Tuesday- Tuesday after we finished our school work, we headed to the World Mining Museum in Butte. It was neat to see how an old mining town would be setup and see all kinds of mining equipment. We also went down into a mine! After J got off work, we headed to Butte to do Jon's Gulch Loop.

Wednesday- The kids and I went to Bozeman to hike Drinking Horse Mountain. We found a cool park, then hit the grocery store.

Thursday- We went to Grant-Kohrs National Historic Ranch and Lost Creek State Park. After work, we went on a hike in Butte to an old train trestle and tunnel. I couldn't find a good mileage map for this, but it ended up being over 5 miles. oops!

Friday- The kids and I did a hike at Headwaters State Park and went to Three Forks for pie. We ended the night with pizza and Pinocchio. 

Saturday- We went to Clark's Lookout SP, Bannack Ghost Town SP, and walked around Dillon.

Sunday- We went hiking in Hyalite Canyon then went back the the park the kids and I discovered Wednesday. 

Monday- June's knee was bothering her, so we stayed around the airbnb watching tv, listening to audiobooks, and packing up.

Montana Adventure Part V

This past week had some not ideal weather for hiking (either very hot- high 90s- or rainy,) so it was a slower week. We are getting moisture and remnants of Hilary, but hopefully once that moves out we will be back to hiking for our last week. 

Monday, we recovered from our Glacier trip. We did our schoolwork and then went to the pool here in town. It was not busy at all, but the water was pretty cold. We stayed and played for a while anyway. Tuesday, we headed into Bozeman to the Museum of the Rockies. We enjoyed a planetarium show and seeing all the dinosaurs. There was also a neat da Vinci exhibit. On a very smoky Wednesday, we went to Butte's pool, which was SO fun! They had a lazy river, rock wall, diving board, and water slides. The water was also heated, so it was cold to get out! Wildfire smoke blew through turning the sky a weird orange. Thursday, we went to Helena to WILD and Exploration Works followed by the carousel and ice cream. Friday was cool enough that we went for a hike near Butte. The views were hazy from smoke, but still worth the hike. Saturday morning was clear, so we went to Nevada City, Virginia City, and the Ruby Reservoir. The reservoir was very busy, so we didn't spend much time looking for rubies. We finished the night off with pizza and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Sunday, we went back to the Musuem of the Rockies with J. We also went to the American Computer and Robotics Musuem. Most of it was for adults. but Cooper enjoyed it. His favorite was playing a N64. June and I played Oregon Trail from 1983.
