Mountain Trip '13

4 posts in one week?! I am on a roll, but don't get used to it!

For the past few years, we have tried to go to the mountains during the fall.  When we lived in NC, the mountains were three hours away.  Last year, we were in the middle of a move/job changes/being pregnant, so we didn't make a trip.  Now that we are in ATL, the mountains are just a little over an hour away!!!  After some debate (due to J being tired from a crazy week at work and me having root canals), we decided to go up to Blue Ridge for the day Saturday.  So glad we did.  We have seen the trees prettier before, but it was nice to get out, hike, and see the mountains.

We miss having the Blue Ridge Parkway to drive on... we didn't find anything that pretty where we were Saturday.  Coop was also fussy because he was teething, so we weren't up for long drives like we would have been.  We walked around downtown Blue Ridge, which was way more touristy than we thought it would be.  Nothing at any of the cute restaurants sounded good and 1) were dairy free and 2) didn't require much biting.  So we just wen to Wendy's, which I know I can eat and be safe.  After stopping to get some Tylenol for Cooper, we drove off to go on a hike.  It is actually part of the Appalachian Trail.  We drove on a gravel road for several miles, but we made it!  It was just a quick hike to the falls.  It was a little chilly, but it was beautiful!

Life Lately + Photo Dump

I have waited too long to dump photos from my phone.  So here's the last month or so!

Tummy time (notice how little hair he has on top!) 9/7
I had two root canals last week.  Fun. Not.  Apparently, Cooper head butting me killed the nerves in my bottom two front teeth.  I was too embarrassed to ask if that could be why, but the dentist suggested it when I told her I had a 5 month old.  So, don't let babies head butt you!  After a week of pain, I think it is mostly behind me.

9/13 at Piedmont Park
J has been crazy busy at work.  He comes home, plays with Coop til bedtime, then works.  Thankfully, it should be over now!  All the reports were due today.

9/16
Dub Dub came to visit at the end of September.  We had a good time. And she didn't mind eating dairy free too much. :)  Although the shrimp scampi we had was pretty much the bomb!

9/16
I took Coop to Alabama and Tennessee for a wedding the first weekend in October.  It was hot!  I walked a 5K with Momma while pushing Cooper.  Since most of it was through grass and some on a hill, it was rather difficult.  Thankfully, Coop slept through most of it!

Holding my bottle like a big boy! 9/16
The wedding was beautiful, and Coop got to meet LOTS of my Tennessee friends.  He was a big hit!  Everyone loved him.  He is such a good baby and didn't cry at all with all the passing around.  He took a couple of naps and wasn't fussy at all... until we got in the car.  I realized he hadn't been in the car at night, which I think freaked him out.  I turned the flashlight on my phone and that seemed to help.

Skeleton in the crib! (Taken on video monitor) 9/19
Nana came to visit, too!  We went to the pumpkin patch and shopping.  Coop was so cute at the pumpkin patch.  We were the only ones there, so we got some cute pictures (keep going... they are further down).

Talking to my lanterns 9/19
I have enjoyed walking with my friend, El, about once a week.  We go to the park or down by the river.  We also went over to their house for lunch last Saturday.  It was nice to get out and have people to talk to besides each other!  Coop and Georgie weren't awake much at the same time, but it was cute when they were.  Coop tried his best to flirt with her, but she was not interested!

I was going to roll over, but I'll eat my hand instead 9/20
Cooper had been rolling over to his belly every time we put him down.  I guess it was his new trick.  However, it must be old news because he doesn't do it as much.  He usually rolls over to go to sleep, but we actually have to do tummy time again.

Always be Batman 9/21
We have been enjoying going to story time when Cooper is awake for it.  We went to a different one on Monday that is closer to the apt and meets later.  It was much easier to get to!

We went to Cloudland Canyon on a nice weekend in September.  It is a couple of hours from here, but we have been wanting to go.  We were tired, but figured we would be mad at ourselves if we didn't do something since it was so nice out.  And it was our lucky day because entry to the park was free the day we went!  I didn't even plan it (though I would have if I'd have known).  We hiked down to a waterfall and around to viewing points (pics below).
Fall! Apple Pies + Pumpkin Trees
Caitlin was able to come down for a couple of days and was able to watch Coop for an hour or so while I got my haircut.  We went to World Market and Hobby Lobby to look around.  I was proud of Caitlin who managed to buy only one item!

Oh you know, just eating my ball 9/23
Coop is wanting to crawl like crazy.  He hasn't gotten it figured out yet (whew!), but he is wanting to be on the move!  If given enough time, he can scoot a little just by kicking.  I am not ready for him to be mobile!

Hanging out in my jumparoo 9/24
Some days, I take Coop out to meet J when he gets home from work.  One day last week, I took him out there and Coop smiled and gave us his first chuckle.  SO. CUTE.  He has done it a couple of time since then, so hopefully he will be laughing soon!

9/26
Cooper has also managed to roll from belly to back a few times, though I am pretty sure he didn't mean to.  Once he is on his belly, he is usually pretty content.  I have never seen him even try to roll back.  He just loves being on his belly!
